Porata Samithi

Uniting the Valmiki community through solidarity, cultural pride, and collective progress.

About JVIPS

A united front for welfare, rights, and cultural identity of the Valmiki community.

Who We Are

Jathiya Valmiki Ikya Porata Samithi (JVIPS) is a non-partisan welfare organization dedicated to the social, educational, and cultural upliftment of the Valmiki community across the region. Founded on the principles of equality and brotherhood, JVIPS has been a voice for the voiceless for over a decade.

We work at the grassroots level, engaging with families, youth, and elders to address pressing challenges such as access to education, healthcare, legal rights, and livelihood opportunities. Our programs are designed to create sustainable change while preserving the rich cultural heritage rooted in the legacy of Maharshi Valmiki.

With a presence spanning multiple districts, JVIPS brings together leaders, activists, and community members under one banner — united by a shared vision of dignity, equity, and progress for all Valmiki people.

Maharishi Valmiki — the Adi Kavi

Maharshi Valmiki

The First Poet • Sage • Author of Ramayana

Maharshi Valmiki is one of the most revered sages of ancient India, celebrated as the Adi Kavi — meaning "the first poet." He composed the Ramayana, one of the greatest epics in human history, consisting of 24,000 verses that narrate the life and teachings of Lord Rama.

"The Ramayana is not just a story — it is a guide to righteous living, compassion, and the triumph of dharma over adharma."
Adi Kavi — The First Poet

Valmiki authored the Ramayana in Sanskrit, creating the very first kavya (poem) in the Sanskrit literary tradition. The famous "Mā niṣāda" verse is considered the first shloka ever composed.

Teacher of Equality & Compassion

Valmiki's teachings transcend caste and creed. He gave refuge to Sita and raised Luv and Kush — exemplifying compassion, inclusivity, and the highest ideals of human conduct.

Valmiki Jayanti

Celebrated annually on the full moon day of Ashwin (October), Valmiki Jayanti honors his birth and timeless contributions. JVIPS organizes community events and cultural programs on this sacred occasion each year.
